Research

The Australian Government is investing in research to better understand the potential health and environmental impacts of PFAS, and how to best remediate PFAS contaminated sites. This research includes:

• A remediation research program, which aims to help develop new treatments to remove PFAS from contaminated materials.
• A national health research program, which promotes new research into the effects of PFAS exposure in people.
• An epidemiological study, which is looking at the potential human health effects of PFAS exposure in Williamtown, Oakey and Katherine.

Airservices Australia and the University of Queensland are conducting a study looking into workplace health and safety controls and how effective they are at reducing PFAS exposure.
